The INCOSE Liberty Chapter will be having a tutorial event on November 21st and 22nd. These events will be a tutorial introduction to SysML on the 21st and a tutorial on Object Oriented System Engineering Method (OOSEM) on the 22nd.

Ten years ago The Gaudi site started at Philips Research. The goal of the Gaudi site is to make Systems Architecting into a disicipline, to make it accessible and transferable, to enable engineers to develop faster into systems architects. The approach was based on:

• incremental delivery: make small parts and deliver frequently

• evolutionary development: arrange for lots of feedback to improve and evolve past deliverables

• open sharing: web-based publication with full availability of all material and the right to use it (with only the obligation to refer to the source)

• content creation by riding piggy back on other developments.

This approach is very different from the traditional academic publishing model. The productivity is high, the coverage of subjects is broad, and still the material is coherent. Now we are looking at the next step: can we transform the preliminary books at the web-site in traditional paper books that are published by a publisher? The lecture will provide an overview of the current content and structure of the web-site, and we will discuss the ideas how to continue on the web as well as with published books.

 

Bio:

Gerrit Muller received his Master’s degree in physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1979. He worked from 1980 until 1997 at Philips Medical Systems as a system architect, followed by two years at ASML as a manager of systems engineering, returning to Philips (Research) in 1999. Since 2003 he has worked as a senior research fellow at the Embedded Systems Institute in Eindhoven, focusing on developing system architecture methods and the education of new system architects, receiving his doctorate in 2004. In January 2008 he became a full professor of systems engineering at Buskerud University College in Kongsberg, Norway.
