Stevens and NTU launch new Dual Master's Degree Program, to start Fall 2009

Stevens Institute of Technology and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have partnered to deliver a Dual Master’s Degree Program in Systems Engineering and Systems and Project Management, starting Fall 2009.  In a ceremony held April 18, 2009, in Singapore, University representatives including Dr. Su Guaning, President of NTU, and Dr. Harold Raveche, President of Stevens, and Associate Provost of Graduate Programs Enterprise, Mr. Ralph Giffin, gathered with industry sponsors and prospective students to mark the official launch of the new multidisciplinary program.

"The partnership between NTU and Stevens brings together the complementary core competencies of two technical universities - Systems Engineering at Stevens and Systems and Project Management at NTU.  Students participating in the dual degree program will benefit from both "east and west" perspectives on the conception, development and integration, operations and governance of complex systems and enterprises," said Stevens' Associate Provost and Distinguished Service Professor, Ralph Giffin.

This multidisciplinary dual degree program strives to prepare students for positions in management and leadership, who are capable of utilizing a common systems thinking approach to effectively manage complex systems, lead global project teams
to be more effective and productive, and who can conceptualize, plan, develop and lead the systems and program management processes of their organizations.

Students receive a Master of Science in Systems and Project Management from NTU, and a Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Students can also complete coursework leading to a Graduate Certificate in Systems Engineering & Architecting, and two Graduate Certificates in Systems Engineering & Architecting, and in Systems Engineering Management.

Students admitted into the Dual Master’s Degree program, will spend one semester abroad at the respective host university and will complete the host School’s required course work on-site. To meet the degree requirements, candidates must earn 30 course credits by taking 5 courses from Stevens Institute of Technology and four courses from NTU plus an independent study project.
