INCOSE Stevens Student Chapter elects new Board, and awards 2nd Annual Stevens INCOSE Doctoral Student Research winner a trip to Singapore

At the recent SSE Research Days event, the winner of the 2nd Annual INCOSE Stevens Doctoral Student Research Competition was announced as Lymari Castro, of the Department of Defense, whose paper “Rapid Systems Engineering (RSE) Reduces the Development Lifecycle and Manages Requirements Volatility” has earned her sponsorship to attend the 19th Annual International Symposium of INCOSE, “East Meets West: The Human Dimension of Systems Engineering” in Singapore, July 2009.  This year's INCOSE Student Research Award, and all subsequent INCOSE Student Research Awards will be given in the name and honor of the late John Wirsbinski, a fellow SSE doctoral student, who passed away April 2009.

We also congratulate the Award Honorable Mentions, including the 1st Place Runner-up, Ana Lisbeth Concho, for her paper “Decision-Making Systems Optimization Via An Evolutionary Approach,” and 2nd Place Runner-up, Mayada Omer, for her paper “Resiliency of the New York City Subway and Tokyo Metro Infrastructure Systems.”

The Executive Board of INCOSE Stevens Student Chapter also recently held elections for the academic year of 2009-2010 and would like to announce the results:

Vice-President of Public Relations: Leone Young
Vice-President of Events: Weiping Tan

The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Stevens Student Chapter will continue to foster the development of systems engineering, by providing a focal point for dissemination of systems engineering knowledge, promote collaboration in systems engineering education and research, assure the establishment of professional standards, guidelines and handbooks for the practice of systems engineering, to improve the professional status of all persons engaged in the practice of systems engineering, and to encourage governmental and industrial support for research and educational programs that will improve the systems engineering process and its practice.
