Dr. John Farr, Associate Dean for Academics, School of Systems and Enterprises, has been named this year’s recipient of the prestigious Henry Morton, Distinguished Teaching Professor award. This highly respected honor is given in recognition of Dr. Farr’s outstanding teaching ability, and his lasting impression and influence on his students in and outside of the classroom. Dr. Farr was the founding Director of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from 2000 until the creation of the School of Systems and Enterprises in March 2007. Before coming to Stevens in 2000, he was a Professor of Engineering Management at the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was the first civilian professor in engineering and Director of their Engineering Management Program. Dr. Farr is a former president and Fellow of American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM), a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and a member of the Army Science Board and Air Force Studies Board of the National Academies. The Distinguished Teaching award is issued in the honor and name of Stevens first President, Henry Morton. Morton served as Stevens President from 1870 to 1902. Dr. Farr will have the title of Henry Morton Distinguished Teaching Professor for the 2007 to 2008 academic year.
