ARE YOU READY FOR SOME SERIOUS GAME DEVELOPMENT?

You might have noticed that the products and systems we are dealing with on a daily basis are increasingly more interconnected and complex. This is not only true for technical systems, but also the globalized economy, the environment and public health. Here at Stevens we educate engineers and technical leaders to take a systems oriented approach to understand and find solutions to the needs and challenges ahead.

We are very well aware of the fact that theoretical lectures and simple exercises only fill a small part of the tool-box our graduates needs to successfully design and deploy these products and systems. Experience gained on the job and transferred from mentors has traditionally been filling the rest. The problem is that it takes years, if not decades to develop a technical leader with the sufficient insight and wisdom to tackle the development of complex systems. We are facing an unprecedented demand for people with these capabilities.

The Experience Accelerator Design Competition provides an opportunity to address this demand by designing a game that provides insights, wisdom, and hones decision-making skills by creating a "safe" but realistic environment for decision-making where the participants have to make the trade-offs between the need for more analysis and information and the need to "get done" with the limited time and resources available.  The game should also provide rapid feedback by accelerating time and letting the participants experience the downstream impact and consequences of their actions and decisions.
